This painting came out of my first participation in an art festival...the inaugural Montford Plein Air Painting Festival, April 10-12, 2026. I learned that weekend the house's historical owner, M. V. Moore was founder of a prominent early 20th-century men's clothing store located on Patton Avenue in downtown Asheville. I chose an elongated panel (9x20) to showcase the house's conical roof. Light moves swiftly in early Spring and brought with it several challenges to painting this architectural beauty.
